Style trends

The modern kitchen style featuring a simple and sleek design was found to be the most Instagrammable style of 2020, with 44,458 posts, followed by the farmhouse style with 20,364 posts, which usually features a more rustic, wooden, and retro style, Wren Kitchens notes in its study.

Heading into 2021, you can get the best of both worlds by choosing a “modern farmhouse” look for your kitchen redesign. Clean lines with character, neutral colors with natural textures, chippy paint paired with streamlined appliances. (Source: Apartment Therapy)

Color trends

White kitchens are back! Color trends showed that white is still a top choice (48,753 posts) with black taking second place with 27,528 posts, followed then by cooler colors such as green and blue.  Add in some of the trending features such as floating shelves, wooden worktops, and gold accents, and you can combine a cool modern kitchen with the warmth of a curated style.

Earlier this year, Behr Paint released its 2021 Color Trends Palette, a collection of 21 versatile colors, an “Elevated Comfort” palette with lavish bold colors and accompanying neutrals designed to create “energizing, yet comforting” focal points in a home.  On-trend with the #WhiteKitchen popularity, this palette provides colorful inspiration for a neutral room alongside vibrant pops of color.
