5 Ways Dogs Live The Good Life In Bend, Oregon

Bend, Oregon is DogTown USA

Bend loves dogs. Seriously. We really love dogs. Often referred to as DogTown USA, Bend is home to over 70 dog-friendly restaurants and many more local businesses, miles of trails in and around town, and plenty of off-leash areas.

5 ways dogs live the good life in Bend:

1. You can bring your dog along to drink beer:

Dogs are welcome (on-leash) at these following locations (on-leash outside dining/patio areas):  10 BarrelCascade Lakes Brewing CompanyGoodLife Brewing,McMenamins Old St. Francis School, and Worthy Brewing. Or, check out Crux Fermentation Project‘s off-leash grassy area right next to their patio! Play cornhole or throw the frisbee for your pooch while you enjoy the awesomeness that is Crux. {Full list of dog-friendly restaurants in Bend, OR here.}

2. You can run or bike the trails with Fido:

With approximately a gazillion miles of trails around Bend, there’s always a new – dog approved – adventure waiting on your doorstep. {Full listing of dog-approved trails in Bend, OR here.}

3. There’s a whole parade dedicated to pets (so get those fashion-week worthy ensembles ready):

The annual 4th of July Pet Parade is always a favorite of locals and visitors. You’ll see everything from horses, chickens, dogs, llamas, lizards, and everything in-between.  And, let’s not forget the cuteness overload of the Wiener Dog Races as part of Bend’s Oktoberfest festival in September.

4. The shopping is awesome:

Locally based retailer, Ruffwear, offers equipment and apparel designed for animals to enhance their (and your) recreational activities.

Bend’s own Silipint offers portable silicone dog bowls that are lightweight and collapsible (perfect for camping, hiking, and other Bend adventures you and Fido go on).

Dogs even have their own beer, brewed fresh locally in Bend. A liquid treat made from malted barley water, Dawg Grog is perfect for those hot Summer days here in town.

5. There’s always somewhere to play with pals:

Bend has eight dog off-leash areas in local parks, so there are plenty of places to run free. {Remember: dogs are required by city ordinance to be on leash in any public area in the city of Bend except in designated off-leash areas.}
